LYSA TOPSoccer will not be holding a fall 2020 season!

We were so disappointed that we had to cancel our spring 2020 LYSA TOPSoccer season. During the past three months we have continued to follow closely all of the information about Covid-19 as well as reviewing the recently released national, state, and local guidelines for youth sports. We recognize that at this time that many youth sports teams are planning to resume activities in the fall.

However, given the current information and the stringent guidelines for resuming youth sports activities, LYSA TOPSoccer will not be holding a fall 2020 season.

The safety of our players, coaches, families, and volunteers is our number one priority. We will continue to monitor the situation and will maintain communication with our TOPSoccer community and families.

We hope you and your family are safe and we appreciate your understanding and support.

Sincerely,

LYSA TOPSoccer

STATEMENT #5 REGARDING COVID-19

(April 16, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.)

To all the Lexington FC, LYSA Recreational, TOPSoccer and LYSA Adult Soccer players, families and supporters:

As previously stated in our 4 previous alerts from the past several weeks, the leadership of Lexington FC / LYSA has continued to act promptly and consistently with the recommendations of the CDC, US Youth Soccer, the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) and local officials and, out of an abundance of caution, suspended all in-person activities for an undetermined period of time.  As everyone is well aware, this situation continues to be fluid and changes rapidly on a day-to-day and even minute-to minute basis.

Because of this ever-changing situation and consistent with changes made by US Youth Soccer and the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association, Lexington FC and LYSA has now decided to extend the period of suspension of all in-person soccer and related activities through and including May 1, 2020.

We remain hopeful that any suspension of activities will be short-lived and trainings and competitions of some kind during this season will be able to resume in some form or fashion.  For example, KYSA continues to have discussions about what programming they might still be able to offer in a shortened/delayed season and is considering the possibility of trying to still host most their 2020 competitions (e.g. State Open Cup; Soccer Village Cup; President’s Cup) albeit at a later date.  With all that being said, we understand that in certain instances it may be that the possibility of a meaningful Spring season may be difficult, if not impossible, and rest assured that the Lexington FC / LYSA leadership are in ongoing discussions about our next steps. We continue to ask for your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time as there are many moving parts and even more unknowns and we are doing our best to process this information, make informed and considerate decisions and communicate those decisions to you when they are decided.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide you with information and our decisions as soon as they are made.

Sincerely,

Marty Tucker, Club Director / Board Chair.   E-mail: martinbtucker@gmail.com

STATEMENT #3 REGARDING COVID-19

(March 16, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.)

To all the Lexington FC, LYSA Recreational, TOPSoccer and LYSA Adult Soccer players, families and supporters:

As more fully stated in our alerts from late last week, the leadership of Lexington FC / LYSA acted promptly and consistently with the recommendations of the CDC, US Youth Soccer, the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association and local officials and, out of an abundance of caution, suspended all in-person activities until further notice.  As everyone is well aware, this situation continues to be fluid and changes rapidly on a day-to-day and even minute-to minute basis.  However, in hindsight, it appears the decision was appropriate and warranted.

Last evening, the Lexington FC / LYSA Board Chair (Marty Tucker) and President (Catherine Carrico) convened an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors to consider the developments surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic and to further determine what steps were necessary or appropriate for the soccer club and its members going forward.  During that meeting, the Board of Directors expressed a serious concern for the well-being of its players, families and supporters and voted unanimously to suspend all in-person soccer and related activities of the club through and including April 5, 2020, subject to change as may be later determined by the Board of Directors.  This decision is consistent with the strong recommendations from US Youth Soccer and the Kentucky Youth Soccer Association and follows similar temporary closing timelines adopted by Central Kentucky school districts.

As a result of the Board of Directors’ decision, during this time of suspension of all in-person soccer and related activities, Lexington FC and LYSA further strongly recommends that all of its players, families and supporters take seriously the compelling recommendations of the CDC, the Governor and other local officials regarding social distancing and similar recommendations.  Thus, Lexington FC / LYSA strongly recommends that all its players, families and supporters otherwise avoid all group gatherings and group trainings of every type including group soccer scrimmages, group soccer trainings and group weight or similar training at gyms or otherwise.

We as a club – and the individual members of the Board of Directors – believe that it all our individual and collective responsibility to each other and the community as a whole to do our part to slow the spread of this virus.  Activities inconsistent with these recommendations (group trainings; group workouts) put all of us at risk – especially the most vulnerable among us – and could certainly lead to further delays of soccer seasons or all-together cancellations.  We have faith that the Lexington FC / LYSA family will do its part.   If we do we can be sure to limit any risk to our friends and families and give ourselves the best opportunity to resume playing soccer as soon as possible.

At this time and to be absolutely clear, we are not at this time cancelling any of our spring leagues.  In fact, we are hopeful that any suspension of activities will be short-lived and are continuing the process of registering players and forming teams for our LYSA Recretational, TOPSoccer and LYSA Adult Soccer leagues so we can be ready to go if or when the situation may allow.  Further information about these programs can be found at www.lysa.org.  Further information about Lexington FC can be found at www.lexingtonfc.org.

As always, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide you with information and our decisions as soon as they are made.

Sincerely,

Marty Tucker, Club Director / Board Chair

LYSA / LFC ANNOUNCE CENTRAL KENTUCKY’S PREMIER ADULT SOCCER LEAGUE

Lexington, KY – March 10, 2020

Lexington Youth Soccer Association, Inc. / Lexington FC (LYSA/LFC) (Ky.) has long been regarded as THE Lexington Soccer club for all players – from the most elite in the Commonwealth and the Region (LFC), to recreational players (LYSA), to players with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities (TOPSoccer).

LYSA / LFC is now excited to announce the inaugural season of the LYSA Adult Soccer League that will begin play in April of 2020 and will include co-ed “competitive,” “recreational” and “over 40” leagues.  LYSA/LFC has been recently collaborating with several leaders of the Central Kentucky Adult Soccer League (CKAS) to transition management of Central Kentucky’s largest adult soccer league to LYSA/LFC effective immediately.  REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN and interested players should visit www.lysa.org for more information and to register.

LYSA/LFC is confident that it will be able to offer what the adults in Central Kentucky, many of which have kids who play in LYSA/LFC/TOPSoccer, have been wanting and needing for so long – consistency and predictability and some of the best quality soccer fields available for adults in the region.  This offering of an adult program within the LYSA/LFC club offerings “…is long overdue, will give the players to play their games on the same day of every week and at the same location while freeing up their weekends to spend with their families and, hopefully, enjoying watching their kids play in LYSA/LFC/TOPSoccer” said Marty Tucker, Board Chair and Lexington FC Club Director.

This collaboration and partnership with LYSA/LFC and the largest organized group of adult soccer players in the region “...was a no-brainer and further recognizes LYSA/LFC as the principal source of opportunities for all types and levels of players to enjoy the game of soccer,” said Allen Sharon, a member representing the former adult league.  “Although we have been generally successful in the past, I, along with Jeb Messer and Eric Lindsey, who have organized and managed the adult league in Lexington for ___ years, recently realized the organization and structure within LYSA/LFC would best allow us to grow the adult game in Central Kentucky.” “This was something that no other club around could match and was an opportunity we could not pass up.”

“I have been involved with LYSA/LFC for 12 years and I always felt that our mission in providing soccer opportunities to everyone in Central Kentucky included opportunities for adults to enjoy the game,” said Catherine Carrico, President of LYSA/LFC.  “I am excited that LYSA/LFC has stuck with its mission and is now again able to offer these additional opportunities to our families and the soccer community as a whole.”

About Lexington Youth Soccer Association, Inc. / Lexington FC

LYSA/LFC is a non-profit organization formed in 1977 and has grown to be the largest soccer organization in the Commonwealth of Kentucky with almost 2000 participants.  LYSA/LFC is unique to Central Kentucky and one of only a few throughout the Commonwealth, as it is the ONLY organization that has programs for everyone.  This includes soccer opportunities for elite select players competing for club State championships and in Regional and National leagues (Lexington FC), beginner players or players playing more recreationally (LYSA), and even athletes with intellectual, emotional, and or physical disabilities (TOPSoccer).  And now with the addition of an adult soccer, LYSA/LFC is truly THE club for soccer at all levels and players throughout Central Kentucky.
